I haven’t seen the guy even mentioned since maybe 2012! This morning, Scotty Kilmer came up in my recommendations and I am amazed by the online presence he has amassed. I also realized that he has been on brand for at least this decade since his look has not deviated since the last time I saw him SIX YEARS AGO!
Jalopnik should invite him for an interview or at least do a write up because I’m curious about this guy but don’t want to Google Fu his actual story.

If some people have a radio face, he has a silent-movies voice.

They did do a story.
They excoriated him

He’s like your friend’s dad who just spouts his opinion on everything, warranted or not. He might have knowledge that’s relevant enough to form said opinion but there’s a 50/50 chance he doesn’t.

I will not click on that goon’s videos. He is such an unbearable hack. I found him a few years ago when trying to figure out how to fix brake lines. He posted a video in which he did it with compression fittings, which explicitly stated on the package he showed on the video.

Some of his advice was alright (but videos still annoying as hell), but that one about the brake lines was the deal-breaker that made me stop watching him. I wouldn’t know if he’s gotten his act together since then.

I will never watch him again after watching a video on replacing a clutch made it look like a super easy job then when I attempted it I realized he glossed over like 40% of the actual work/technique.

The problem is if you’re a wrenching newbie trying to figure out which way is up, you won’t be able to sort the ok advice, from the dangerous crap.

Yup. And even if he did post a new video repenting of his ways, the old one would still dominate YouTube’s recommendations.
